We bought a home with 4 acres of land, a barn, a chicken coop, 2 horse paddocks and a 90x20’ garden. We moved our family out of the city to our new piece of paradise on February 29th and began our new adventure!
Upon moving in we began the daunting task of getting the appropriate permits and permissions.
To start we needed a permit from the county to operate an Intensive Vegetarian Operation. They required us to get a permit from Alberta Transportation and a permit from Alberta Environment. Add to that the idea of a dugout and we need a permit from Alberta Water with a Long term water management plan.
While we waited for the various approvals we began making plans.

So far we have:
-
121 Tamarack poles
-
1,044 hop plants and rhizomes
-
14,000 feet of wire
-
A tractor
-
A trailer
-
5 manuals from various hop farms
