Mild aroma with pleasant tropical citrus quality. If added as a late addition it can add black currant notes. Other descriptors used for Galena include sweet fruits, pear, pineapple, lime, gooseberry and spicy wood. It is also said to have a slightly “rustic” edge from its Brewer’s Gold ancestry.

As a high alpha hop, it has seen commercial success most often as a classic bittering hop. However, it is a multi-purpose hop that is a great finishing hop delivering a clean, citrus character.
